UPI QR codes

Make payment details easier to share

Create a UPI payment request with your payee address and name. An optional amount helps a customer start a payment in a compatible UPI app.

Make it useful from the first scan.

Always verify the payee name and test the code in your payment app before printing. A QR image is a payment request, not proof of payment. Confirm receipt with your bank or payment provider.

Check the recipient before sharing a payment request

A UPI QR code carries payment request details that a compatible payment application can interpret. The payee address and display name should belong to the intended recipient. An optional amount can make a fixed-price request easier to start, while leaving the amount open can suit a counter with changing totals. A generated image does not establish a merchant account, authorize a debit or confirm that any money has arrived.

Before displaying a payment request, compare the encoded payee address with the recipient details supplied by your payment provider. Open the code in the apps your customers actually use and inspect the recipient shown there. Application behavior and eligibility can vary, so do not promise universal compatibility. Follow your provider's instructions when testing and reconcile any transaction in the recipient account. A customer's screenshot alone should not become the shop's confirmation workflow.

Put payment signage where staff can inspect it and where customers understand what they are paying for. Check that another sticker has not covered the original image. Keep payment requests separate from menu, feedback and promotional codes: a clear label reduces accidental scans and confusion. If your business changes accounts, remove every old static image and verify the new recipient again. Record the approved payee address in your internal procedure without collecting customers' authentication secrets. Never ask a customer to share a PIN through a QR landing page or feedback form.

A worked example

A craft stall offers several items at different prices. The operator creates an open-amount request using the approved payee address and checks the recipient in a compatible app. The counter label says Pay the agreed total and includes the business display name. Staff confirm receipt in the merchant account before handing over the order. A separate website code leads to the product catalogue, so customers can distinguish browsing from starting a payment. When the payee changes, the operator replaces the physical sign.

Common mistakes to avoid

Prepare, test, then publish.

  1. Choose the destination and check its details.
  2. Generate your code and preserve its white border.
  3. Test the artwork at the intended size, on a real phone.

Keep an accessible alternative such as a short written website address alongside the code. A QR image should make information easier to reach.

Frequently asked questions

Can the amount be left open?

Yes. The generator supports an optional amount. Verify the resulting request in your payment application before using it with customers.

Which apps support the image?

Support depends on the app and account. Test the intended UPI payment apps directly; this tool does not certify acceptance by every provider.

Does QR Code Creator process the payment?

The image carries request details. The payment application and payment providers handle any actual transaction and its confirmation.
